GPR008 - Quantumplex - The Knowable Void

4/1/2025

The Knowable Void released 29th April 2025

Once again at the crossroads of eroded relationships and detached introspection, the familiarity of isolation comes as both a comfort and as a malaise that must be clawed through.

Equal parts cathartic and self-destructive, this album explores artistic purpose in an existence of inevitable solitude.

GPR007 - Manton - The Measuring Stick: A Study of Musical Time

3/20/2025

Out NOW!

Released by the IDMf Netlabel on February 14th, 2019, Manton’s concept album Don’t Panic was an auditory experiment, creatively demonstrating the journey of the Voyager spacecraft as it left Earth, visited the outer planets, and exited our solar system. While Don’t Panic explored time as an outward, far-reaching concept into space, The Measuring Stick shifts focus inward to how humans perceive time and how rhythm manifests in nature. The two albums are deeply connected. The Measuring Stick is, in many ways, the brother of Don’t Panic, but instead of charting a cosmic voyage, it explores the fundamental experience of musical time itself.
Picture

Rhythm isn’t just about beats and repetition; it’s about a constantly shifting internal “measuring stick”...a flexible sense of time that can expand, contract, and realign based on our focus and experience.

Research conducted during the making of this album explores how anticipation and retrospective awareness allow music to unfold in the mind of the listener. Rather than relying on cultural conventions, Joe Manton seeks to uncover universal processes that shape our perception of rhythm.

The thesis presents original theories, including the Rhythm Object Table (ROT) and Groove Superimposition Alignment (GSA), which map how our brains make sense of asynchronous, unpredictable events. To put these ideas into practice, Manton designed custom software (MIDITURDS, PJM, LFOBeats, Swunxing) and composed this 70-minute experimental piece, The Measuring Stick, which challenges listeners to engage with rhythm in new ways.

Ultimately, the research seeks to answer: What is music when stripped of cultural context? How can we train ourselves to hear rhythm in chaotic environments, like nature or pure noise? What new compositional tools can be created to expand our understanding of musical time?

This work is both a theoretical framework and a personal journey, offering a fresh way to think about rhythm, groove, and musical perception.

GPR006 VA - IDM//Perspectives Vol. 1

2/6/2025

Glitchpulse Records Presents: IDM // Perspectives Vol. 1

Released February 26, 2025

Picture

..perspective/pəˈspɛktɪv/
noun
A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.

This compilation brings together ten unique artists, each refining their craft and shaping their own unique perspective on IDM. For some, it’s about intricate rhythms, glitchy stabs, fractured percussion, and off-kilter grooves. For others, it’s a melodic exploration, weaving familiar timbres into unexpected forms. And for some, it’s about pushing sonic boundaries... warping and mangling sound while remaining in the realm of coherence.
IDM is a genre as vast as it is undefinable. Often, electronic music that resists traditional classification gets labeled IDM, but as idmdiscovery.com puts it:

"IDM is defined by individualistic experimentation and outside-the-box sound design."

Whatever IDM means to you, IDM // Perspectives Vol. 1 delivers it in spades, textural and intricate.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted, and congratulations to the artists featured on this release!

The full album is streamable exclusivley on Igloo Mag here: V/A :: IDM//Perspectives Vol. 1 (Glitchpulse) — Exclusive listen! – Igloo Magazine now until the release date (26th Feb 2025). So, head over experience the perspectives for yourself!

IDMf072 - Silent Strangers Anagram 4: Lume (Definitive Edition)

1/26/2025

We are pleased to announce the re-release of Silent Strangers: Anagram 4 – Lume, the final chapter in Christopher Lombardo’s Anagram series. Originally released in 2017, this album has been remastered at Millennium Mastering to offer a refined listening experience.

Released 27th Jan 2025

Picture

Christopher Lombardo, previously known as Silent Strangers, created the Anagram series during his time with the IDMf community, releasing the earlier installments in collaboration with Section 27. While Anagram 4: Lume was the concluding installment, it was not fully integrated with the IDMf catalog at the time.

In early 2024, we reached out to Christopher with the idea of remastering the original 10-track album for re-release. Christopher not only embraced the idea but also contributed four previously unreleased tracks to make this edition unique.

This release also serves as the final entry in the IDMf catalog. While this chapter closes, Glitchpulse will continue to explore new directions in experimental electronic music.

Anagram 4: Lume is available now as a digital release on Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms. Featuring a mix of noise, IDM, glitch, and experimental electronic sounds, the remastered edition offers a fresh perspective on the original tracks while introducing new material to listeners.

Listen now and experience the culmination of this series.

IDMf071 VA - IDMf Retrospective Vol. 5

12/20/2024

The IDMf Netlabel and Glitchpulse Records are proud to preset to you the final installment of the label's Retrospective series. Released 22nd December 2024
Picture
Over the course of this series, we’ve traced the milestones of the IDMf Netlabel’s history. Each release has showcased treasures from our discography, while spotlighting the sounds and stories that shaped our label. Through it all, our veteran artists have reaffirmed their presence, showing that the IDMf community remains as vibrant and driven as ever.

To close this chapter, it’s only fitting to feature one of the label’s original architects. Wayne Baker, co-founder of the Netlabel and mastering engineer for several of its releases, steps into the spotlight with his latest work as SUBQUiRE. His track "Mute" brings the series full circle, weaving in a powerful Julie Andrews sample that parallels the challenges he’s faced with his own voice.

As we turn the final page, IDMf Retrospective Vol. 5 stands as both a celebration and a testament to the enduring legacy of the Netlabel, and forges a path for the exciting output that Glitchpulse Records has in store.

1. Scyn - Traveller
2. Cameron - Look

GPR005 - arcsec - my battery is low and it's getting dark.

Glitchpulse Records Presents: arcsec - my battery is low and it's getting dark. (GPR005) Releases 5th December 2024

You can preview and save on streaming services here!

Driven by a lifelong fascination with space and technology, arcsec has created a soundtrack to honor the final hours of the Opportunity rover as its battery gradually faded on the Martian surface. Unable to recharge due to a dust storm, the rover transmitted one last, incomplete image, which serves as the artwork for this EP, titled after the now-iconic tweet from Jacob Margolis.

Track Listing:

1.

2. pols voice
3. m60-ucd1
4. contact binary (arrokoth)
5. reveal:sudran
6. UY scuti

Musically, the EP draws heavy inspiration from Autechre, particularly their Oversteps and Exai eras, focusing on fragmented, unconventional melodies while maintaining the abstract rhythms, digital textures, and atmospheric drones featured in the previous arcsec EPs. Together, these elements form a haunting, dystopian soundscape.

A Monumental Year for Glitchpulse

11/27/2024

We kicked off 2024 with our first release in two years: the explosive four-track remix EP, Breath of the Abyss - Permutations Remixed (IDMf066). That was just the beginning. Seven more releases followed, along with a complete rebrand and the launch of glitchpulser.com.

The year also saw a transformative overhaul of IDMforums.com. It was looking grim when the forum went down for over two weeks, but we bounced back with vital security updates, Discord integration, and modernized functionality. Our presence expanded across major streaming platforms, including the release of a stunning five-volume, 64-track back-catalog mix of fan-favorite IDMf Netlabel tracks (2008–2024), all sensationally remastered at Millennium Mastering. Thanks to these efforts, our Bandcamp stats soared to heights not seen since 2016, and our community continues to grow.

On top of these achievements, we’ve worked to complete the IDMf Netlabel catalog. This included rediscovering three long-lost albums:
  • Tuneboxii - Melodic Meanders (IDMf022)
  • Vetrix - Drop of Blue (IDMf016)
  • When Power Stars Collide - Attraction to Light (IDMf019)

We’re thrilled to close the year with two more exciting releases:
  • arcsec – my battery is low and it’s getting dark. (5th December)
  • IDMf Retrospective Vol. 5 (21st December), featuring SubQuire (formerly Fidelium).

Coming soon... Anagram 4: Lume – A Special Re-release

Christopher Lombardo (Silent Strangers) created the four-part Anagram series during his time with IDMf, releasing it in collaboration with Section 27. The final installment, Anagram 4: Lume, debuted in 2017, but Chris was unable to connect with IDMf at the time.

Earlier this year, we reached out with an exciting proposal: to remaster the full 10-track album at Millennium Mastering and re-release it through IDMf. Chris took it a step further, contributing four previously unreleased tracks to make this edition truly special. Thank you, Chris! The definitive edition of Anagram 4: Lume drops January 18th, 2025.

GPR004 - Quantumplex - Mandelbrot - z_(n+1)-z_n^2+c

11/11/2024

Glitchpulse Records brings you new experimental electronic music to the tune of:

Quantumplex - Mandelbrot - z_(n+1)-z_n^2+c (GPR004)

Within, you’ll hear a collection of hardware jam sessions by Elliott and Joe, carefully stitched together by hand to create coherent pieces of music. Moreish grooves and tasteful synth beauty. If you’re a fan of our previous releases, you’ll love this one too.

Picture

Elliott is a Sydney, Australia based knob twiddler. His style is wildly experimental, but consistently good.

Millenia from now, things will grow cold and fade, until the combined atoms of the observable universe cease to exist, like a tree falling in a forest with no one to hear it, the sand will drain down the plughole with no one to see it - the borders will shrink and blur as the fractals expand - the infinite void, the infinite plane, everything and nothing - Zen.

Electronic, textured beat, analog beats, cutting edge, fractal, futurism, glitch, idm, soundscape, textured
